Alice Slater
Alice Slater is the New York Director of the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation.
She is a founder of Abolition 2000, a global network working for a treaty to
eliminate nuclear weapons, and serves on its International Coordinating Committee
and as the Convener of its Sustainable Energy Working Group. Ms. Slater is a
member of the NYC Bar Association’s Committee on International Security
Affairs, and serves on the Executive Committees of the Lawyers Committee for
Nuclear Policy and the Middle Powers Initiative, working to influence governments
to apply pressure on nuclear weapons states to honor their treaty obligations
for nuclear disarmament. She is also a member of the Advisory Committees of
the Nuclear Policy Research Institute and the Global Network Against Weapons
and Nuclear Power in Space. Ms. Slater is a U.N. NGO Representative and has
organized numerous conferences, panels, and roundtables at the U.N. on nuclear
and environmental issues. She is a frequent speaker at meetings and conferences
in the U.S. and internationally. She has written numerous articles, interviews,
and op-eds and has appeared on local and national media.
