Security

In April 2005 the National Academy of Sciences released a report that identified the country's Boiling Water Reactor fuel pools as the most vulnerable to attack. The 47-member Nuclear Security Coalition hailed this report. But the report's alarming findings have been ignored. Today, no adequate protective measures have been taken at nuclear reactor sites. The 32 BWRs with fuel pools on the upper storey of the reactor building, outside containment, remain as vulnerable as they were when the NAS report was released more than three years ago. Read the coalition press release here.
